Bi-polar 1: Loco
was chosen for the "I'm Not Crazy" exhibition in 2012 which premiered at the World Quilt Festival, Manchester, NH, in 2012. The exhibition has traveled with the Mancusi Quilt Festivals to venues across the country, including CA, FL, and CO in 2012. It continues to travel in 2013. The unusual and revealing exhibition is the concept of Kathy Nida, curator, who initiated it through the Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) Curator-in-Training program. Sue Reno served as Juror. Dragonfly Dive Sold at Auction

At the SAQA "Expanding Horizons" SAQA Conference in Santa Fe, NM at the end of April, small matted donation quilts were offered up for sale to attendees. The exhibition was titled "Spotlights." Salli McQuaid's contribution,  Butterfly  Dive (left) sold, as did all mini-quilts in the sale.  Proceeds will help fund SAQA website updates.
Artist Statement: This art quilt is an aerial view of a dragonfly diving into a dragonfly "dive" to join his friends. The central dragonfly is an original machine embroidery created in software and sewn out in metallic and holoshimmer threads that suggest the effervescence of a dragonfly in sunlight. The signature is a flight pattern. Colors are vibrant and the mood is upbeat. It's a big dragonfly party !
